HSA Plans — an affordable alternative in health care coverage for you and your family.

What are HSA plans?
Designed to work in combination with a Health Savings Account, HSA medical plans offer the best of both worlds. They provide a range of benefits to cover you in the event of major illness, giving you peace of mind for the future. Plus, their high deductibles keep premiums lower than conventional health plans.

What are Health Savings Accounts?
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are special tax-deductible accounts used for paying medical expenses. They work hand-in-hand with a high deductible health plan. 100% of your contributions to the HSA are deductible or excludable from your gross income if they are used for qualified medical expenses.

An HSA offers you a valuable opportunity to invest your HSA funds and grow them tax free to better support your future health care needs. HSAs are available to all individuals who:
  • Are looking for additional investment opportunities
  • Want to manage their health care plan and dollars
  • Will not be simultaneously covered by another medical plan
Greater control and savings
An HSA is established through fully tax deductible contributions. For 2006 people with single coverage can contribute up to $2,850 tax free and those with family coverage can contribute up to $5,650 tax free. People over age 55 are allowed to contribute an extra $800 as a catch-up contribution in 2006. The contributions limits are increased each year.

Health Savings Account
  • Contributions are tax deductible
  • You choose how funds are invested or spent
  • Funds can be withdrawn tax-free to pay for qualified medical expenses with an HSA debit card or check
  • Unused funds roll over year-to-year
  • Interest or other earnings grow tax-deferred
If you are interested in incorporating these features into your health care plan then an HSA might be the right choice for you.
